Public Meeting No.2
- December 2006 - Jerra School Hall
If you read your junk mail bundle that arrived on Sunday 12
November 06, you would have received a notice from Council in
regard to the public meeting for Wednesday 15 November 2006 at
7.00pm at the Community Centre regarding how S94 funds (received
from the developers of the Jerrabomberra area). The Council
proposes to spend this money on the construction of a Youth Centre
at the cost of $800,000 in the area opposite the Community Centre
and next to the Scout Hall plus extend the Community Centre by 10m
towards the Jerra Parkway, at the cost of $350,000.
The JRA disagrees with this approach. We believe that these funds
should be allocated towards the construction of a multi-purpose
sports and community facility. The land for large community
facilities has been made available as part of the rezoning process
currently with NSW Government. We are expecting a decision from
Minister Sartor mid 2009 regarding rezoning. The Council has
advised that these funds have been earmarked for youth facilities.
The JRA believes that these funds would be better spent for the
youth and the boarder community by providing funding towards the
construction of an aquatic centre or multi-sports facility.
The Jerrabomberra Public School P&C Association has also raised
the issue of community priorities and the proposed location of the
Youth Centre facility.
We strongly urge you to attend any public meetings and discuss with
Council your views. If you cannot attend, please let us know your
views by email.
